The fourth day of practise

 Trip to Mir-i-arab madrasah.

Today we visited to Mir-i-Arab madrasah with my coursemates and our practical teacher Matluba Axmedovna 😊

The Miri-Arab madrasah is one of the constructions on the well-known "Poi-Kolyan" Bukhara square. It emerged in the 16th century (about 1536) by the decree of Ubaidullah Khan emir in honor of the famous Islamic theologian Abdullah of Yemen. As Sayid Abdullah himself bequeathed, he was buried in this madrasah under one of the domes. There are two big blue domes of the Miri-Arab madrasah towering above the surrounding buildings in the center of Bukhara. Along with the Kalyan mosque and minaret, this religious educational establishment forms the whole ensemble Poi-Kalyan that is the spiritual center of the city.

The madrasah was a prestigious educational institution at the time, one of the graduates was Ahmad Kadyrov, the first president of the Chechen Republic, as well as Ahmad Donish of Bukhara, the famous statesman and thinker, who left behind a rich and wonderful philosophical heritage. The teaching in the Miri-Arab madrassa lasted 9 years, during which both religious and secular subjects were studied. The size of the structure was quite large, it included 111 living rooms for students, as well as 2 large halls. Educational lectures and Friday services were held in one of them, and there were the tombs of Sheikh Sayyid Abdullah and Ubaidulla Khan emir in another.
